Two killed in collision in Liberty County
A truck collided with a van in Liberty County, killing two people and sending a third to the hospital, authorities said.
The truck sideswiped the van about 3 p.m. Thursday along U.S. 59 near CR 3995 near Cleveland, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers said.
The van veered out of control and rolled over.
Troopers said two women in the van were killed while a third was hospitalized in unknown condition.
The crash was initially thought to be a possible hit-and-run. But DPS
troopers said the truck driver returned to the crash scene when he
found a location to turn around.
It wasn't known if the driver was injured. The investigation into the cause of the fatal crash is continuing, DPS troopers said.
