Sheriff’s deputy hits teen pedestrian in Spring
A Harris County sheriff's deputy hit a Spring High School student walking Wednesday morning, officials said.
15-year-old and other students were walking east on Spring Creek Drive
near Lynbriar when he was struck about 6:20 a.m. by a deputy traveling
in the same direction, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
sheriff's office said the deputy did not see the group, adding it was
dark outside and the road was not lighted. The road also had no
sidewalks and the teen was walking on the side of the road, the
sheriff's office said.
The teen was taken by LifeFlight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The teen was last reported to have non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff's office said.
The deputy, who was not injured, has been with the office since 2004.
