Police: Driver flees scene of fatal crash in northeast Houston
HOUSTON (KTRK) --
Police are looking for the driver who crashed into a utility pole and a
fence in northeast Houston overnight. One of his passengers was killed
in the accident.
According to police, three men were in a white Hyundai going west on
Pardee near Kashmere a little after 11pm. The driver, who officers say
is a 20-year-old man, was given the keys to drive the car by one of the
They say he was likely speeding down Pardee when he lost control of the car.
"Goes on to private property, striking a light pole and snapping it in
half. (The driver) goes through a wood fence, and eventually ends up
striking a home," said Officer Ignacio Izaguirre with the Houston Police
The back passeneger, a 20-year-old man, was
pronounced dead at the scene. A 16-year-old was taken to the hospital,
but was not seriously hurt.
The driver took off running right
after the crash and police are still looking for him. He is facing
charges of failing to stop and render aid.
