Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run in NW Harris
A pedestrian was killed early Thursday morning when a car hit him as he tried to cross a road in northwest Harris County.
The incident occurred about 12:15 a.m. on Kuykendahl near Cypress Landing, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the man, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Deputies said the driver left after the collision, but no other details were available. However, other media reports indicate two men jumped out of the car and ran away. According to other media reports, the men were later taken into custody.
It is the second hit-and-run incident in as many days in northwest Harris County. At about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, a driver hit a bicyclist in the 9100 block of FM 1960. Deputies said that driver fled the scene.
The bicyclist was flown by LifeFlight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann-The Texas Medical Center. He was in critical condition but is expected to survive.
Deputies said the driver, Hoang Xuan Nguyen, was later taken into custody and charged with failure to stop and render aid.
