Motorcyclist dragged, killed by stolen SUV in NE Houston
A motorcyclist was hit and killed by a stolen SUV on Uvalde Road late Saturday, according to the Harris County Sheriff's office.
According to officials, the driver and passenger in the maroon Isuzu Ascender, reported stolen in an earlier car-jacking, were speeding when they hit Thomas Hooper, who had just pulled his motorcycle out of a parking lot near the Woodforest intersection.
"The motorcycle and the rider of the motorcycle became entangled in the Isuzu," HCSO Sgt. Mike Harvey
said. "They pushed him for 50 yards before he was dislodged, and they
continued to push the motorcycle for another 100 yards before the
motorcycle caught on fire."
When the SUV burst into flames, the driver finally stopped, investigators said. Witnesses say they saw both men flee the scene.
Hooper was taken to East Houston Regional Medical Center, where he died.
