A pedestrian died and a motorcyclist is in critical condition after a collision in Harris County last weekend.

The incident happened about 8:45 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Magnolia Ave., according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Paul Griffin was driving a blue 1999 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Magnolia while Josh Coleman and a group of other people were walking eastbound along the side of the road.

Witnesses
saw Griffin driving at a high rate of speed and popping "wheelies" as
he traveled toward the pedestrians, deputies said.

Deputies said
Griffin hit Coleman, who ended up in a ditch along the roadway. Griffin
fell off his motorcycle and landed in the middle of the road.

Griffin then got up and stood his motorcycle up. He walked away pushing his motorcycle without helping Coleman.

Coleman was flown by LifeFlight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he later died.

Griffin was later found at East Houston Regional Hospital
and had injuries consistent with those expected from the crash. He was
flown by LifeFlight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital and
was in critical condition.
