Man, son hurt in dike rollover wreck
TEXAS CITY — Two people were transported by air ambulance after a one-car rollover on the Texas City Dike on Tuesday night.
A 15-year-old boy and his father had to be cut away from the car that flipped several times on the dike beach. Police said it appeared the father and son were cutting donuts on the beach in a Dodge pickup when it flipped over.
The boy’s head was trapped between the truck roof and beach, forcing firefighters to cut away the roof, Texas City Fire Captain Robert Ebert said.
The father, believed to be in his 50s, also had to be cut out of the truck, Texas City Police Captain Brian Goetschius said.
Both were taken by air ambulance to John Sealy Hospital at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
Their injuries were not believed to be life threatening, Goetschius said.
