A man has been arrested in a hit-and-run that left a seven-year-old boy, his relative, injured Wednesday night in northwest Harris County.
Randy Jenkins is charged with failure to stop and render aid and aggravated assault after the incident about 8 p.m. in the 7200 block of Skylight near Spencer and Queenston Blvd., according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said Jenkins apparently lost control of his 200 Ford pickup truck, veered onto the sidewalk and hit the child, officials said.
According to initial reports, the driver got out of the truck and ran away, authorities said.
The child was in critical but stable condition when a Life Flight helicopter flew him to Memorial Hermann Hospital, officials said.
Deputies are continuing to investigate the incident.
Both KHOU-Channel 11 and KTRK-Channel 13 reported the suspect in the case was the injured boy's uncle. But deputies said they could not confirm the relationship between them, but they were family members.
