A 46-year-old man died in what police say appears to be
a suicide when he rammed his car head-on into a concrete pillar near
the 610 Loop in northwest Houston late Monday night.
The single-vehicle wreck happened about 11:30 p.m. at 2700 West T.C. Jester near the North Loop, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police said the man, whose name has not been released, died at the scene.
Police said the man was driving a Dodge Challenger at a high rate of
speed southbound on West T.C. Jester when he crossed through the
intersection at the 610 North Loop West service road. He then veered
from the road into the center median and smashed head-on into a concrete
pillar. He died on impact.
Police said evidence at the scene indicated the crash was a suicide.
But investigators did not release details about what evidence led them
to that determination.
