Hit-run victim believed to be a teenage girl
Sheriff's deputies are investigating an apparent fatal hit-and-run in northwest Harris County.
One person, believed to be a teenage girl, was killed shortly before 7 p.m. in the 5500 block of Barker Cypress, authorities said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the victim ran into traffic and was struck by a passing car that did not stop and offer help.
Sheriff's deputies said other motorists also may have hit the victim. None stop to render assistance, authorities said.
Deputies said it was raining heavily at the time. There are no street lamps in the area.
The investigation is continuing, deputies said.
