A man died in a fiery crash when he slammed into a pole
and his car burst into flames in southwest Houston early Tuesday
morning.

The single-vehicle wreck happened about 12:45 a.m. at 10300 South Post Oak near West Bellfort, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said the man, whose name has not been released, died at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

Police said the man was driving alone in the car southbound in the
northbound lanes of South Post Oak, when he veered from the road and hit
the pole. He was unable to get out of the car as it burned.

Investigators were trying to determine what led to the wreck.
