Around the area & state:Area and state: Passerby rescues trio after crash; driver is killed
A teenager was killed in a fiery crash in north Houston, but a passerby helped three men to safety, officials said.
Police said a white GMC pickup was southbound on U.S. 59 near Cavalcade about 10:30 p.m. Sunday when, for unknown reasons, the driver veered from the road and plowed through a grassy median. The truck smashed into a concrete pillar and burst into flames.
The truck's 17-year-old driver was killed. A passerby pulled three men from the burning truck.
All three were taken to Ben Taub General Hospital. One was in critical condition on Monday. Details about the injuries to the other two and their conditions were not released.
A fourth person, who was riding in the bed of the pickup, was thrown from the truck, but was not seriously injured.
