Around the area: Child, adult killed by alleged drunken driver
An alleged drunken driver speeding down Highway 288 Sunday morning rear-ended a car, killing a 12-year-old and another person, authorities said.
The driver of a silver Cadillac struck the back of a tan Honda Accord that was about to exit on Airport around 2:35 a.m., authorities said.
The 12-year-old, in the back, and the front passenger died at the scene.
The driver of the Accord and a toddler, who suffered a broken ankle, were taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest.
Police said the driver of the Cadillac showed signs of intoxication and is facing a possible charge of intoxication manslaughter.
Police have not released the identities of the victims or driver.
