Around area and state: 17-year-old boy killed in street race
A 17-year old boy died Friday in a street-racing crash in west Houston, police said.
Two teens were racing about 10 p.m. in the 13300 block of Briar Forest Drive just east of Eldridge Parkway, HPD spokesman Victor Senties said.
The boy who died lost control of a Chevy Camaro, which jumped the median and hit a tree. The other boy, also 17, was driving a silver Mecedes-Benz. He is facing felony racing charges, Senties said.
