1 dead, another hospitalized after car crashes into SW Houston bayou
HOUSTON – A driver faces intoxicated manslaughter charges after a
passenger was killed when a car crashed into a southwest Houston bayou
early Sunday, police said.
According to the Houston Police Department, a car with three people
was heading west at 3 a.m. in the 9700 block of West Bellfort at a high
rate of speed. The driver lost control and skidded into the median and
then crashed into a large pipe along the side of the bridge.
The car fell into the bayou below the bridge, police said. The driver
had minor injuries, while the front passenger was transported to
Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in serious condition.
The passenger in the back seat died at the scene, police said.
Police said the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and faces intoxication manslaughter charges.
