Woman accused of leaving accident

GALVESTON — Police arrested a woman after she was accused of leaving the scene of an automobile-pedestrian accident, authorities said Tuesday.

Leila Darlene Carlos, 46, of Galveston remained jailed Tuesday on a $5,000 bond on a charge of accident involving injury and failure to stop and render aid, according to Galveston police and jail records.

Police accused Carlos of striking a pedestrian at 8:40 p.m. Monday in the 10300 block of Seawall Boulevard. Witnesses followed the white BMW and gave police the license plate information, Galveston police Lt. Michael Gray said.

Police found the driver in the 13000 block of FM 3005. An ambulance took the pedestrian to the University of Texas Medical Branch for treatment of injuries that weren’t life threatening, Gray said.
