A woman died and two others were injured when a bottle may have smashed into their windshield, causing the driver to loose control and slam into a light pole early Thursday morning in southwest Houston, officials said.
The single-vehicle wreck happened about 6:30 a.m. in the 7800 block of Westheimer near Stoney Brook, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police said the women, whose names have not been released, were in a car traveling eastbound on Westheimer when someone may have tossed a bottle from another car.
A passenger in the car was rushed to Memorial Herman Southwest Hospital, where she later died. The other two women were also rushed to the hospital. Details of their injuries and conditions were not released.
Police said investigators were trying to determine if someone in another car threw a bottle that hit the windshield of the women's car. No descriptions of the second car or the people inside it were available.
