Hummer hits, kills man on FM 517

DICKINSON — A Dickinson man is dead after being struck by a Hummer H3 on Saturday night.

Dickinson EMS paramedics were dispatched to the 1600 block of West FM 517 and Calder Road about 6 p.m. Saturday where a witness was performing CPR on Joseph Henry Praylor Jr., 35, according to a news release from the Dickinson Police Department.

An ambulance transported Praylor to Mainland Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The incident prompted police to stop traffic on FM 517 while investigating the accident.

The driver of the 2006 Hummer that struck Praylor was uninjured and has not been charged in the incident. However, an investigation is ongoing, Dickinson police Sgt. James Johnson said.

“This is not being classified as an accident report,” he said. “From what witnesses say, (Praylor) lunged out into traffic.”
