A suspected drunken driver was behind the steering
wheel in a roll-over crash that left one person dead and two others
injured Sunday in southwest Houston.

The two-vehicle wreck happened about 6:30 p.m. at 14100 S. Main, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police
said the driver of a green Ford Explorer entered U.S. 90, hit a Toyota
4-Runner that was westbound on the highway and both sport utility
vehicles rolled over several times.

A passenger in the Explorer
was killed. The driver and a passenger in the Toyota were seriously
injured and were rushed to a nearby hospital. Police said their injuries
were not life-threatening.

The driver of the Explorer was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital.
Police said it was determined he was intoxicated. Charges of
intoxicated manslaughter and intoxicated assault, police added, were
expected to be filed against him.
