A 37-year-old man died when he apparently lost control of his
car and slammed into a guardrail on U.S. 59 in southwest Houston early
Wednesday morning.

The single-car crash happened about 2:30 a.m. on the service road of
the southbound Southwest Freeway near the Sam Houston Parkway, according
to the Houston Police Department.

Police said the man, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Police said it appeared the man veered from the road as he was taking
the ramp from the Southwest Freeway to the Beltway 8 and hit the
guardrail.

The man was wearing a seat belt and alcohol does not appear to be involved in the wreck.
