Criminal charges are not expected to be filed in the death of a 4-year-old boy attacked by a neighbor's pit bull in Montgomery County on Saturday, authorities said.
Christian Gormanous climbed a chain link fence into a neighbor's yard in the 5700 block of Pinehurst, just west of Conroe, around 5:15 p.m.
Although the dog was chained up in the yard, it was still able to attack the child, authorities said.
Christian's 9-year-old sister, Trinity Gormanous, pulled him to safety and called for help.
Paramedics took the boy to the hospital, where he died.
"It's a real tragedy," neighbor John Roach said. "They're good kids from a good family."
The family declined to comment Sunday.
Friends and relatives showed immense support through Facebook saying the mother, Janell Gormanous, thinks the world of her children and is a wonderful mom.
The pit bull is in the custody of Montgomery County Animal Control, officials said. No further information is available.
