Authorities: Hit-and-run victim 'saved' by tire display
A car hit a 24-year-old man Sunday morning, throwing him into a stack of tires outside a garage shop in north Harris County, authorities said.
"That's probably what saved his life," said Lt. Michael Combest of Harris County Precinct 4.
After a call around 8 a.m. from a passerby who saw the man on the ground, the victim was transported to Ben Taub hospital where he was in stable condition Sunday, Combest said.
Black pieces of plastic, believed to be from the car that hit the man, were found near the scene in the 23200 block of Aldine Westfield near Ciderwood, authorities said.
Combest encouraged anyone with more information about the incident to call Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office at (281) 376-3472.
