Around the area and state: Car-light rail crash sends 10 to hospitals
Ten people were transported to Houston hospitals Tuesday after a vehicle collided with a Metro light rail train in the Texas Medical Center.
Preliminary reports indicate that a woman, who was eastbound on Cambridge near Fannin, drove her vehicle across the light rail track and collided with the northbound train about 9:30 a.m., said Metro spokeswoman Margaret O'Brien-Molina.
The woman apparently ran a red light as she was trying to make way for an ambulance, O'Brien-Molina said.
The woman was taken to The Methodist Hospital for observation, while nine light rail passengers went to various other hospitals, O'Brien-Molina said. None of the injuries appeared life-threatening, she said.
