Two people died in separate traffic crashes overnight in Harris County.

The
most recent crash involved a big-rig about 2 a.m. Tuesday on westbound
Katy Freeway near the Grand Parkway in west Harris County, according to
the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said investigators
were still piecing together what led to the crash and no details were
immediately available. However, they said one person was killed.

The wreck forced officials to temporarily shut down three frontage road lanes near the crash site.

In the other crash, a pedestrian died when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle on FM 1960 in north Harris County.

The
incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. Monday on FM 1960 near Alidine
Westfield, according to Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office.

Deputies
said the man, whose name has not been released, was standing in the
middle of the roadway when the SUV hit him. The man died upon impact.
The driver stopped and remained at the scene.

Deputies said it was
unclear why the pedestrian was in the roadway. He may have been trying
to cross the road. That portion of the road, deputies added, is dimly
lit and was dark at the time.

No charges have been filed in the case. The wreck is still being investigated.
